There is a great photo op for everyone who lives in the area. The Fremont Peak Observatory is perfect for those who want to take pictures of the sky at night. They have regular public nights, as well as daytime viewings of the sun.

They just celebrated their 20th anniversary. The Observatory is also a great place to see the landscape, with views that can stretch to the Sierras.

If you want a new perspective for nature photography, give the Observatory a try.

I saw an article in The Weekend Pinnacle about Monterey County’s North Coast and Coastal Counties, a book of historical photographs about the surrounding area. The author, Margaret Clovis, studies Pajaro, Castroville, Moss Landing and Aromas. She views both the landscape and the towns in the area.

For more information, here is the article that reviews this book and here is the only online information I could find on the book.

It should be great viewing and reading for a lover of local history!

Another season is about to begin and if you have been
thinking about a photography trip to Costa Rica then
now is the time. I am leading ten day tours in
January and March, but for those who cannot get away
for a longer period of time, there is a new seven day
“Volcano and Beach” tour in February. On this new
February tour, we will be flying from San Jose (Costa Rica) to
Puerto Jimenez via a Twin Otter aircraft, then a 4X4
taxi to the lodge. This maximizes the shooting time.

Available upon request is a detailed itinerary of the
tours. I invite you to visit my web site
www.crphototours.com where you will have a glimpse of
Costa Rica through the lens of my camera. Please read
the testimonials page for what some of the
participants are saying: “It’s not just a photo tour,
it’s an adventure.” T. Fries, Burlington VT; “What a
wonderful addition to our lifetime memories bank.”
Felicity and Alan Somerset, Toronto ON; “Professional
knowledge so willingly shared.” Colleen and Bob
Bevacqua, Newport Beach, CA., “Frank’s trips are as
good as it gets” Anne and Jack Wallace, Toronto, ON.

Again, as in past years, I am offering a 10 percent
discount on any group of six or more members from the
Northern California Council of Camera Clubs.

Should you have any questions please contact me.

Happy shooting,
Frank Scott
