The Pinnacle News recently covered Lillie Marcheski’s new memior project. (You can find the article here.) She is writing about her and her twin sister’s experiences as nurses in WWII. She and her sister shot film reels while serving, but most of their footage was censored. Jack put together a tape of the remaining footage, so we need to ask to view it!
The Hollister Camera Club wishes Lillie success in writing and publishing her memiors!

Lillie Marcheski Award 2006
Filed Under Club News, Member News | Leave a Comment
Bob Lesko’s picture of Indian Paintbrushes was chosen by Lillie Marcheski as the winner of the first annual Lilli Marcheski Nature Award.
The award was created at the beginning of 2006 by Kermit DeLaurant to honor the nature photography of Lillie Marcheski and as a way to encourage outstanding nature photography within the club. The award is open to all club members who submit a print or slide for the award. It is awarded each year at the annual banquet for the previous year.

Our very own Luis Franco is featured in this week’s The Sunday Pinnacle. The article is about the Gilroy Garlic festival. He’s featured as one of the artists on display and gets to share some of his views on his work. We also get a picture of Luis with his camera.
Way to go Luis!

Decorate the Blog!
Filed Under Member News | Leave a Comment
I meant to post this a lot earlier. Anyone who would like to submit a photo to use at the top of the blog is welcome to do so. I’ll have to change around the color scheme to match the new picture, but that’s easy to do.
I think it would be great for the image on the blog (although lovely) to be replaced with an image created by a club member. Any subject is welcome, as long as it’s beautiful. As you may’ve noticed, the format is very retangular. Expect your image to be roughly 700-800 pixels wide and 80-200 pixels high. The blog is somewhat flexible as far as size goes but it requires a wide, short image to be used. Image will be watermarked in the lower right corner.
Another way for HCC members to participate on their site.

New Site Almost Completed!
Filed Under Club News, Member News | Leave a Comment
The new HCC site is almost completed. I still need some input from the members though.
First, please look at the 2003 Club Gallery. I want all members to vote on whether they prefer the club galleries to present pictures on a white or black background (with opposite color text). Also, vote on what sort of border style you prefer for the club galleries. You can see examples of the various border styles on the sample individual pages 1 and 2.
Second, anyone who has won an award in 2004/05 and would like to display their work on the club’s site as an award winner, please get your digital files to me. If you don’t have access to a scanner, please let me know. I can scan your work or another club member can. I know the club has many award winners, so don’t be shy about showing them off!
Third, anyone who can find out about awards the HCC has recieved over the years, please contact me. I’m sure the club has won awards and I’d like to list those honors on the site.
Fourth, I would like to have a listing of all the materials available in the members’ library so that it can be posted on the site as a reference.
Of less urgency….
If you want an e-mail address, you have two choices. You can use our Hotmail address (hollistercameraclub@…), which would be a communal address, or you can get your own password-protected e-mail through hollistercameraclub.com. Neither one is complicated to set up. (This is for active members only.)
If you want to post on this blog, a quick tutorial can be arranged. Posting here is as simple as writing an e-mail, once you know where to go. You will get your own seperate login and password so that you can post under your own name. All members are encouraged to post photo news, personal photo stories, links of interest or anything that the other club members may enjoy discovering.
Any member who has a website and would like to trade banners/links with the Hollister Camera Club site, please contact me. If you know of any site that you think we should trade links/banners with, please let me know.
Any active member can also have their own personal gallery on the site. Take a look at the sample individual pages 1 and 2, above, for an idea of how your gallery might look. Please submit a short bio, listing of awards won and any number of digital pictures. Any size or format is acceptable. The pictures will be resized in Photoshop, watermarked (as seen on the Club Gallery pages, above) and saved as high-quality JPEGs. If you need scans of any type of film/negative up to 4×5, please contact me (dust can be retouched but no cropping or other manipulation is offered). Prints up to 8×10 can also be scanned. An Epson Perfection 4870 will be used for the scanning. Also, please let me know how you want your name appearing on the page title.
If anyone knows of any great photo-related links that we should have on the site, let me know or post them here!
And finally, don’t forget to subscribe to the blog so that you can get any new posts announced directly to your e-mail.
I think that’s it for now, but it’s a lot. I need help completing this site and making it a resource for active members and the curioius bystander.
