Fremont Peak Observatory

There is a great photo op for everyone who lives in the area. The Fremont Peak Observatory is perfect for those who want to take pictures of the sky at night. They have regular public nights, as well as daytime viewings of the sun.
They just celebrated their 20th anniversary. The Observatory is also a great place to see the landscape, with views that can stretch to the Sierras.
If you want a new perspective for nature photography, give the Observatory a try.

Another season is about to begin and if you have been
thinking about a photography trip to Costa Rica then
now is the time. I am leading ten day tours in
January and March, but for those who cannot get away
for a longer period of time, there is a new seven day
“Volcano and Beach†tour in February. On this new
February tour, we will be flying from San Jose (Costa Rica) to
Puerto Jimenez via a Twin Otter aircraft, then a 4X4
taxi to the lodge. This maximizes the shooting time.

Auto Racing Photo Workshop

A two-day photography workshop by chief track photographer David Allio will be held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Nov. 3-4. The two-day session will include a drag racing photography workshop on Friday, Nov. 3, at The Strip at LVMS (in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Series Finals) and paved short track oval racing photography on Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Bullring at LVMS (in conjunction with the annual Fall Classic Super Late Model event).

The Forest of Nisene Marks

The forest of Nisene Marks is a nearby Redwood forest that would provide numerous photo opportunities. The Pinnacle recently wrote about it in this article, with photographs. The park’s website is here, but I recommend reading the article first to get a feel for this great little photo op in Aptos.
