The California Coastal Commission is now accepting entries for its 2007 Annual Amateur Coastal Photography Contest. Up to five photos may be submitted depicting scenery of the California coast, native coastal wildlife, or people using the coast. Postmark deadline is August 25, 2007. Entry is free and excellent donated prizes include tickets aboard a yacht cruise and free admission to Disneyland. For an entry form and full contest guidelines, see the photo contest link at www.coastforyou.org or call (800) COAST-4U.

Fotoclave 2007 is 11/2-4.

If you’re interested in submitting photos for the Fotoclave competition, here’s the scoop. The categories are:

Prints

  • Monochrome
  • Nature
  • Creative
  • Color

Projected Images (slides or digital)

  • Pictorial
  • Creative
  • Nature
  • Travel
  • Photojournalism

You can submit any pictures as long as they have not been accepted into a previous Fotoclave.

All pictures will be viewed by the 6Cs group and 20 images from each category will be selected to go onto Fotoclave. Only 2 pictures from a particular individual in each category are allowed. The selection will be on 8/29 (prints) and 8/30 (slides/digital).

Hollister members who wish to submit images for selection will need to bring their work to the August club meeting on 8/28.

For further details and labeling, contact Bob. Remember — bring your competition entries to the August meeting!

Don’t forget! The Gilroy Garlic Festival is this weekend.

The official Web site is up and running. Check it out for more information.

The American Juried Art Salon is holding its 5th biannual national juried show with a September 28, 2007 submission deadline.

All submissions receive jury evaluations so that artists will know why they were or were not juried into the exhibition.

For accepted artists we provide news release forms of proven effectiveness.

$2,100 cash awards will be distributed.

For those accepted into two consecutive shows, U.S. News Corp provides free online programming help and web space for portfolio presentation.
