I recieved this e-mail, which covers a couple different topics:

“I would like to let you and your photography club know about a new workshop that might interest your members. It’s a one-of-a-kind tour that combines adventure travel in China with a workshop on travel photography. Professional photographer and creator of this tour, Ewen Bell, is also available to speak with your members and perform a webinar for one of your upcoming club meetings.

This tour is a rare opportunity to learn advanced photographic techniques in an active travel environment. More information on the trip is below and is also available at www.ewenbell.com/workshops.

Ewen Bell is available to speak to your club directly to answer questions on general photography, digital photography, and on the trip itself.

Ewen can also meet with your club through an interactive WEBINAR. This could be a great event for one of your regular club meetings –a chance to speak to a working professional travel photographer, view his work, talk about his upcoming trips, and ask any questions your members may have.

To schedule a webinar for your club or find out more information on the trip, you can contact Ewen directly at ewen@ewenbell.com or +61 438 896 228 (dial 011 first in the US), or feel free to contact me here in the US.

You can also check out Ewen’s new podcast about the trip at www.ewenbell.com/workshops as well.

EXPERIENCE CHINA AS A TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHER!

Expert travel photographer Ewen Bell and adventure travel operator, Jason Williams have joined forces to offer the experience of a lifetime - a travel photography workshop that delves deep into the cultural, scenic and human richness of China and teaches you how to capture the photographs of a lifetime.

Anyone who has dreamt of learning how travel photographers capture their evocative images can now enjoy an adventure travel experience that will take you up close to the people and culture that makes such powerful images possible.

“The trip is designed to be intensely rewarding as far as your photographic skills are concerned, but also as a life experience. Using our combined knowledge we have created an itinerary that allows more time in each place to explore and begin to understand people and their culture. Spending time establishing a real connection with another person or place is the key to capturing those unique moments which really bring an image to life,” said Ewen.

The China 15 day workshop starts 25 March in Beijing. The trip itinerary includes major sights such as the famed Terracotta Warriors and the Great Wall of China, but there is also plenty of time for more hidden treasures such as agricultural villages, rice terraces, night markets and the old town of Shanghai.

“China offers a genuine experience where even the big cities are filled with distinct cultural enclaves, preserved traditions and ancient historical connections. Once you get out into the rural areas it’s possible to leave the world behind you and let an alternate way of life engulf you,” he said.

Photographic instruction starts from day one and aims to redefine the way each participant looks and thinks about photography. It is a chance to be immersed in a unique “hands-on” photographic workshop that offers not only technical expertise, but also an incredible opportunity to practice what you are learning as you go.

“This tour has been developed with an understanding of the special needs of photographic study and as tour leader, Jason will draw on his extensive experience to make this trip one that you will remember for a lifetime,” said Ewen.

The workshops are open to anyone who has an interest in photography and participants can work at their own level. Each shoot is followed by discussion and sharing of results and experiences. The workshops are presented as themes that cover topics such as capturing intimacy and expression, using available light for dramatic effect, capturing a sense of motion and shooting for context.

Trip costs US $1,900 excluding airfares and spending money.
China Workshop departs Beijing 25 March; concludes in Hong Kong on 8 April 2006.
Further workshops in 2006 are scheduled for May 13, Sep 2 and Nov 4.
